The modular wall unit consists of a series of vertical supports that are attached to the wall. The modules attach to the uprights via metal keyhole hangers hung over machine screws. Routing accurately sized mortises for the keyhole hangers is easily done with this jig.
ROUTING TEMPLATE. The jig is made up of hardwood cleats attached to a top. The top has a slot in it, sized to fit a router bushing. The slot is sized for use with a straight bit and, when routed around the template, yields a recess to match the keyhole hangers.
After you’ve positioned and routed your shallow recess, you can drill out the center section of the recess to make room for the machine head screw. The keyhole hanger can then be installed with screws into the recess.
